Borussia Dortmund has been hit with another injury blow, as Mats Hummels received medical attention during training on Wednesday.

The German defender sustained an ankle injury in the club's friendly match against Wolfsburg last week and was ruled out for up to four weeks.

However, the injury is not expected to prevent Hummels from playing for Germany at the World Cup later this year.

Dortmund coach Lucien Favre said that Hummels would be available for selection for the team's upcoming games against Werder Bremen and Schalke.

Hummels has been a key player for Dortmund in recent seasons, helping them win back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

He has also earned over 50 caps for Germany, making him one of the most experienced defenders in the national team.

While it is disappointing to lose such a talented player, Dortmund fans can rest assured that they will still have a strong squad to compete for major honours next season.
