Bayern Munich has paid tribute to its former forward, Leroy Sané, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 26.

The club released a statement expressing their condolences and paying tribute to the player's legacy.

"Sané was one of our most talented players and will always be remembered for his passion and dedication," said Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"We have lost a great talent and we wish his family all the best in this difficult time."

The club also announced that they would donate €1 million to the Leroy Sané Foundation, which supports young people in football and other sports.

"The foundation is dedicated to promoting fair play and respect among athletes, coaches and fans," said Rummenigge.

"We hope that the money raised through this donation will help make a difference in the lives of many children and young people."

Sané joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City in January 2019 and scored 58 goals in 147 appearances for the club.

He also helped Bayern win the Bundesliga title in each of the last two seasons, including winning the Champions League in 2020.

However, he struggled with injuries throughout his time at Bayern and made just eight appearances for the club this season before passing away.

His death has left the club and football world in shock and mourning. The club has offered their support to Sané's family during this difficult time and hopes that he will continue to inspire future generations of footballers.
