Alphonso Davies scored his first goal for Bayern Munich on Saturday, helping the German champions secure a crucial win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 19-year-old Canadian defender came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact, scoring the only goal of the match with a powerful header from a corner kick.

Davies had previously been impressive during pre-season training sessions but this was his first competitive appearance for Bayern since he signed a five-year contract with the club last summer.

The victory was a much-needed boost for Bayern, who were looking to maintain their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table after losing their previous game to Borussia Dortmund.

The result means that Bayern now have a comfortable gap between themselves and second-placed RB Leipzig, who lost their game against Union Berlin earlier in the day.

However, Bayern will need to be at their best if they want to keep their title hopes alive as they face tough fixtures ahead, including games against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the Champions League group stages.
